Shazam Counts 10 Billion Tags, Accounts 10% of all Digital Music Sales

Shazam has just announced a new milestone by letting us know that over 10 billion tags have been generated from the song identifying app. The 10th billion tag came from a user in East Brunswick, New Jersey who asked to identify Lady Gaga's “Applause.”

Shazam has said that it now processes more than 100 million tags a week and generates over $300 million in digital sales every year. This means that the company now accounts for 10 percent of all digital music sales.
