Interview

I Want To Be A Bad Kid Too

Bad Kids, an Electronic Dance Music (EDM) inspired apparel and events company, put together a fashion show that was unique to say the least. On October 12, at The Lounge at Union Square Ballroom, over 300 of their most loyal and dedicated Bad Kids were brought together for one of the baddest fashion shows of all time. Not only was this a fashion show for bad kids, this also was sponsored by Eye Party and Britt’s Blossoms, Dutch Craft Vodka hosted an open bar, with some of the hottest music from up and coming DJ producers Terzetto, and the Dream Lab sponsored a crazy robot to rock the night.

You might also know these girls from a few months ago when they has a shirt for the Swifties. This shirt had all of Taylor Swift‘s ex-boyfriends last names, and it made national headlines across the country. Any publicity is good publicity and they definitely caught my attention. Little did I know how innovative these girls could be.

The fall line, comprised of 12 street wear pieces for both men and women, is the brand’s first collection to hit a runway. The collection is meant to showcase the essence of “The Bad Life,” or the life experiences founders Lex Houser and Andi Cross provide for their 20,000+ fan base. Whether going to the next big festival, the local club, a bar or just a Sunday brunch, each piece represents a different element of The Bad Life and can be worn for any occasion. Including heavy graphics and typography designed by Bad Kids’ graphic designer Kayla Colby, this collection really outdid their selves, and claimed one more “Bad Kid” (myself) to join the team.

Terzetto could not have been a better choice for music. Hailing from Philadelphia, this trio consists of two sexy guys and one beautiful girl, who brought some of the most disgusting remixes I’ve ever heard, they really kept this party's ambiance to perfection. Dropping all different genres, they caught my attention when they started to mix artists like Disclosure and Charlie Darker. You need to check this group out because they are rising to the top.

Founders of Bad Kids, Lex Houser and Andi Cross, realize there is something that needs to be done about all this negative attention EDM has stirred up. They realize every generation has a music movement that changes the way life is viewed, the way people connect, even how individuals define themselves. Our generation’s music movement is EDM. These girls are ready to keep this on the right track.

“We recognize there is a serious void in the industry – there is a need for something different, something new, something unbelievable to engulf the community at large. We believe it to be a differentiated nightlife experience. A cost effective weekend out. A fresh party ambiance. A place to connect with open and accepting people. A place that fosters interesting conversation. An environment to celebrate our common goal – look back on life and say we lived; we lived hard, we lived good, and we never missed a beat.” – Andi Cross
