EDM Sauce Interview with Upcoming Artist, Nitti Gritti

For those of you who haven't heard of Nitti Gritti, it is the time that you got to know him. Nitti Gritti is a Miami based Dj who entered the EDM Scene just over a year ago. He is known for creating truly diverse music, such as his popular singles “Famous,” “Too Much,” and “Sick.” Tomorrow, he will be releasing his new EP “C'est La Vie” introducing a newly combined style of electronic/rap music. EDM Sauce had the opportunity to get to know Nitti Gritti and ask him what fans should expect from the new EP.

1. How did you discover your talent for producing music?

I’ve been making music since I was in 4th grade, but after hearing a Skrillex song, I decided to actually try to make music on the computer. I officially started producing music in 2012 but I remember in 2013 I really took it seriously.

2. What goals do you hope to achieve before 2017 comes to its final close?

In 2017 I wanted to make as much music as possible and I achieved that after finishing 20 Nitti Gritti records. not to mention the 50-60 tracks I produced for other artists/projects.

3. What are some of the things you enjoy doing on your days off?

I really love going out with my friends to restaurants, movies, the beach, or just hanging at my house making legos, exercising, and making more music haha.

4. How did you come up with your stage name?

I went online to a DJ generator site and it gave me the name “Nitty Gritty” but I just changed the “y’s” to “i’s”

5. Every dedicated artist has their own idol that inspires them to create their own music. Who inspired you to strive for success in this difficult music industry?

I am always inspirited by Chris Martin, Dr. Luke, Max Martin, Benny Blanco, Sonny Moore, Wesley Pentz, Adam Lazzara, Jesse Lacey, Frank Sinatra, Kanye West, Eminem, Travis Scott, and obviously many more people.

6.There are many music festivals around the world that many artists wish to perform or have performed at. Which festivals did you truly enjoy performing at and which ones do you hope to perform at someday?

This year I got to play at Life In Color, Okeechobee Music Festival, Asteria Music Festival, EDC Vegas/Orlando, and so many more shows. I had such a good time every time I was able to get on stage. I specifically remember EDC Vegas because I had a sunrise set and got to premier my “All Of The Lights” Remix with the sun coming up behind me.

7. Soon you will be releasing a new EP that is filled with rap elements along with your electronic music. Are you excited for fans to listen to this new style of music?

I’m kind of nervous, but I think most of my fans already know I make many genres of music and always try to blend them together. The “C’est La Vie” Ep is my take on mixing Travis Scott, Post Malone, Flume, Remedy, Quix, and my own Nitti Gritti sound into one project.

8. What advice would you give to potential artists striving to succeed in the dance music industry?

I say the same thing every single time; you have to work harder than anyone else around you making music. there is only enough space for the people who want it more. I hate to make music competitive because it is such a beautifully freeing part of my life, but the business side is unforgiving and to really make it as an artist requires you to work with people and make a place for yourself in an over-saturated market.
