Interview

Catching Up With The Fast Rising DJ-Producer Julian Jordan

Dutch DJ/producer Julian Jordan is one of the young up and comers who continues to make his mark in the electronic music scene. Julian began his career in 2011, when he was only 15 years old, and was signed by Dutch label Spinnin' Records a year later. He rose to fame with several electro house productions such as Slenderman, BFAM with Martin Garrix and Kangaroo with Sander van Doorn. After all the success from these releases, it's clear that he is fully able to put his money where his mouth is. He's performed at some of the World's most prestigious festivals from Electric Daisy Carnival, to Tomorrowland, and most recently his first sold out show at Webster Hall in New York City, proving that there is no stage too big for him. Along the way he has developed a loyal fan base which continues to grow with each show and every release.

Things took a slight turn in February when Julian announced via Facebook that he would not continue his deal with Spinnin' Records and their management company. They were unable to agree upon a new deal but on the bright side this ultimately gave Julian much more freedom as a producer than before. You may have noticed a different sound in his most recent release ‘Pilot' which was his first release on Hardwell's Revealed Recordings. It's exciting to see where his musical freedom and creativity will take the young producer as he continues to develop his sound.

I had a chance to ask Julian a couple questions following his sold out show in NYC. Check it out below.

2016 has been quite the year for you so far starting with opening up Ultra, what was that like?
It was amazing! It definitely was a bucket list thing to do and I had such a great time. Goosebumps..”

You also just headlined your first show at Webster Hall last weekend, what was that experience like? How was the crowd?
“I've always heard that the crowd there was amazing and they convinced me that its true. It was an amazing energy and I love the vibe the crowd gave me that night.”

Rumor has it you have an upcoming track with Martin Garrix to be released soon, What can you tell us about it?
“It’s something different and i think it’s game changing we worked really hard on creating this and had a great time working on it!”

What else are you currently working on? What can we expect from you for the rest of 2016?
“A lot of new and fresh different music, and of course some amazing high energy shows.”

You have a pretty busy summer ahead of you touring, how do you manage your time on the road? Do you get any time to soak it all in? How do you relax?
“I do a lot of fitness and boxing in my spare time to stay healthy because the touring can get pretty rough. I try to eat healthy all the time. Also my booking agent blocks some days off for me just to relax and hang with my friends.”

Do you think your sound has changed or evolved?
“It has changed a lot but also it evolved in a good way by working with a lot of songwriters and making different sounding great music.”

Where do you see your sound going in the future?
“I don’t want to be put in a box, and I just try to be as different as possible. I am working on songs now and trying to express my creativity in everything I make.”
