[Interview] Jesse Marco Sets Himself Up For Success

As young talent in today's dance music scene, “it's not easy” becomes an understatement. Your goals and priorities are shifted across the board from performing gigs every chance you get to creating top notch productions to forming your own identity as an artist.

Being successful is something that's come naturally, but not easily, for New York native Jesse Marco, who's worked relentlessly day in and out to become the artist he is today. He's played at top-tier nightclubs across the nation, landing a residency at one of the most premier venues in the nation – Omnia Nightclub. Now he's embarking on even bigger adventures with his music, and becoming well-known within the scene as his performances catch the hearts of attendees nationwide.

This is Jesse's year undoubtedly, as new projects are coming up fast for the young artist making 2016 his debut year, with new production that's been in the works for a long time coming,

I've been working on an album for 2 years now… I have a release with Fool's Good at the end of the month.

With an album debut and a release with one of the most well-known New York labels, Jesse's success doesn't stop there. The year prior was a working year for him as his residencies at Hakkasan and Omnia kept him busy in the meanwhile. It's his passion for the music that keeps him going,

This is my first love… I started DJing years ago. I started awhile ago, I had a lot of friends that were into music and stuff, growing up in New York you had to do something… For me growing up DJing was a hobby, no one got paid for it.

Growing up in New York has helped influence Jesse's love for music as he grew up learning how to scratch and idolizing famed DJs such as A-Trak

He's great at keeping DJing alive, not letting it get too far into the “Milli Vanilli” category I guess you would say…

Jesse isn't afraid to speak his mind about the current state of dance music, and where it's come today and he passionately speaks about not wanting to lose the original site of “DJing”,

I really hope with this new music I am putting out, it's very like, in a world where like everything is entertainment, and concentrated on what's the most entertaining, hopefully some of this stuff I'm doing will give inspiration to people doing something different… I'm trying to do my own thing.

As he embarks on his own mission, he isn't afraid to be honest about about the tough climb to the top and how far he's come as a DJ now moving towards the more production side,

It took me a really long time to learn, it's a lot of people telling you your shit sucks when it doesn't suck.

People see the aftermath of hard work and they think they can pick up the DJing thing. But I have a lot of respect for guys who have worked really hard.
