Hi, what are you looking for?

Interview with Bassjackers [EDM Sauce Exclusive]

Back in 2007, two friends decided to join together and the Bassjackers were born. Bassjackers consists of Marlon Flohr and Ralph van Hilst who both were somehow involved in dance music. Bassjackers “big break” came in 2011 when their track “Mush Mush” got picked up by Tiesto and was released on Tiesto's imprint “Musical Freedom.” “Mush Mush” dominated Beatport's Top 10 for over 2 months and grew to be one of the biggest hits of 2011. Here at EDM Sauce we were lucky enough to ask Marlon Flohr and Ralph van Hilst a few questions.

EDM Sauce: To start with, are you familiar with EDM Sauce at all?
Bassjackers: Yes we are! It's one of the blogs we check regularly – gotta stay up to date!

EDM Sauce: You recently reached 100,000 fans on Facebook, congrats on that. How important is Social Media for you guys and staying in touch with your fans?
Bassjackers: Very important! It's a great means for giving and getting information really quickly. It's really cool you get instant feedback on your stuff, and we do read everything! And it's really convenient to let your fans know what you're up to with respect to shows or upcoming releases and what not. We're really greatfull we have so many followers on all our social media, hence the free give away, we think it's the least we can do 🙂

EDM Sauce: What kind of collaborations do you have in the future? We'd love to see you pair up again with Showtek.
Bassjackers: We have some collabs in stock. The first one is with R3hab, out on July 15th on Fly Eye Records. And then we have a collab with our French buddy Gregori Klosman lined up for August. And then we have…haha, we're not telling, just wait and see!
We've talked with Showtek about getting together for another track, and we really want to make it happen (had so much fun making ‘Hey!'). But the heavy tourschedules make it really hard to find time when we're both in Holland.

EDM Sauce: Tell us about your DJ Residency at LIGHT Nightclub in Las Vegas? And What's it like having a Residency in Vegas?
Bassjackers: It's really cool and we think it's a privilege to spin in what we think is one of the most beautiful clubs around the world. The combination of all the amazing DJ's, the top-notch production and the show Cirque du Soleil puts up is one of a kind. We are really proud! We come from little towns in Holland and to be able to do what you like to do most, in this crazy city called Las Vegas…amazing!

EDM Sauce: Do you see Vegas as the new Ibiza?
Bassjackers: There will never be another Ibiza as well as there will never be another Vegas. Vegas is just as unique and great as Ibiza, which is a good thing!

EDM Sauce: What event are you looking forward to most to play at next?
Bassjackers: Pfff that's a hard one. We have Ibiza coming up, Vegas, LA, Greece…but if we really have to choose: Tomorrowland!

EDM Sauce: With all of the touring you do, what is something you always have to have with you while you travel?
Bassjackers: Our Bassjackers Beanies 🙂
