Laura Brehm is the voice behind some of electronic music’s most emotional moments, even if you didn’t clock her name the first time you heard it. She’s an American singer-songwriter, originally from Louisville, Colorado, now based in London, and she’s spent over a decade carving out her own lane in what’s often called electronic folk, this warm, organic songwriting style layered over bass music and dance production.

Her Monstercat story kicked off back in May 2012, when she featured as the vocalist on TwoThirds’ “Waking Dreams.” That track opened the door to one of the label’s longest and most fruitful artist relationships, and Brehm went on to work with a whole roster of Monstercat names including Rogue, Feint, Varien, Ephixa, and Draper.

Outside of Monstercat, she found a second home working with producer TheFatRat, teaming up on tracks like “Monody” and “The Calling,” both of which became genuine fan favorites and helped introduce her voice to a much wider audience beyond the bass music crowd.

Brehm isn’t just a topline singer for hire, either. In November 2016 she launched Electric Bird Records, a label built to give a platform to independent artists working in the electronic folk space, the same lane she helped define. She’s kept a steady release schedule since, dropping “Looking for the Light” with Rameses B on Monstercat in 2022, and teaming up with Au5 and Evoke on “Empty Space” in 2024.

She’s also built a loyal following through live YouTube sessions, stripping her collaborative tracks down to something more intimate and showing off the songwriting underneath all the production. Years into her career, Laura Brehm remains one of the most recognizable and consistently working vocalists in the scene, someone producers seek out specifically because her voice makes a track feel human.
