The free Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) Audacity has just made a major update. The free music production software has been updated to v2.2.0 with the newest introduction of MIDI playback capabilities and new GUI themes.
Since its initial release, the community-based music editing software has been updated with new features and various bug fixes throughout the years. Due to the community's involvement of the software, Audacity was recently given the ability to load third party effects in the VST plugin format not too long ago.
With the latest update by Audacity, MIDI playback is now available, but the software still does not support virtual instruments in the VST plugin format.
Audactity is available for free download via their websit for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
