Fade Into Wonder: An Interview With Adventure Club

Christian Srigley and Leighton James, AKA Adventure Club, have broken out into the scene and are taking it by storm. Having met in high school, the duo went through many transformations before finally deciding to settle on a genre.

“We started out as so many different things. Hardcore, Punk, and before that, one of us was a blues artists, playing guitar on stage. We shifted to EDM a couple of years ago, in early 2011. We got tired of lugging around our amps and drum kits haha.”

They both grew, not just as people, but as musicians and found the type of music they wanted to make. Going through so many transitions between genres, the group found inspiration in the Dubstep scene and decided on the name Adventure Club.

“At the time, we were into super heavy Dubstep and all the acts back then had super filthy names like Doctor Filth and what we were making at the time was heavier, and we decided to play with it and came up with the name Adventure Club.”

Coming from Canada, the EDM scene isn’t too different between the two neighboring countries. The fans come out by the masses just to enjoy an electrifying set by Christian and Leighton, supporting the duo and loving the music they make.

“There isn’t much of a difference between the EDM scene in the US and the EDM scene in Canada. Everyone is there to have a great time and enjoy the show. There’s just better health care haha!”

Drawing inspiration from their peers, Christian and Leighton play a lot of different styles during their sets. They take elements from different genres and combine them to take people on a musical roller coaster!

“We’ve taken elements from Tiesto, Avicii, the whole circuit, but expect a lot of heavy stuff. We’ve been inspired by the heavier sounds lately. We just got off this tour called The Safe And Sound Festival and it had all these Dubstep artists that we used to look up to back in the day, so we’ve been feeling the heavier sound a lot more.”

Drawing from so much inspiration from a variety of genres and artists, the duo methodically mixes their sets and creates music. Between playing shows for thousands of people and traveling, the duo is always hard at work on new music.

“We can’t really talk about much, but we do have a new single coming out in early January. It was supposed to be in November, but between playing shows and wanting to make it perfect, we decided to push it back.”

With a solid fan base in the United States and Canada, Adventure Club’s fan base is only growing!  They know that without the fans, none of this would be possible. The success that they have and will continue to have is all because of the fans and it’s always amazing for them to hear people loving their music.

“It’s truly humbling to have so many people come out just to see us. It’s always really cool to hear stories, like Leighton’s mom went to Ireland and went shopping and one of the shopping centers was playing one of our songs. It’s definitely really humbling. We love you…I think that sums it up about right haha!”
