Boys Noize

Updated Aug 20, 2026

Boys Noize is one of electronic music’s most restless, respected producers, and he’s been building his own lane in the scene for two decades. Born Alexander Ridha in Hamburg to a German mother and Iraqi father, he started out DJing under the alias Kid Alex before settling on the Boys Noize name — a fitting one for a producer whose sound has always leaned into noise, distortion, and heavy electro house textures alongside hip-hop and disco influences.

In 2005, Ridha launched his own label, Boysnoize Records, which has since become a genuine institution — the imprint hit its 100th release back in 2013 and launched a new experimental sub-label, Ones and Zeros, in 2025. His own studio albums, including Out of the Black (2012) and Mayday (2016, which cracked the Billboard Dance/Electronic top 10), show off a producer who’s just as comfortable in a warehouse rave as he is on a festival main stage.

Ridha’s collaborations read like a who’s-who of genre-crossing dance music. He teamed up with Skrillex to form Dog Blood in 2012, linked with Chilly Gonzales for the Octave Minds project, and has produced or remixed for Frank Ocean and A$AP Rocky. He also co-wrote Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande’s Grammy-winning smash “Rain on Me,” proof his production instincts translate well beyond club music.

Most recently, Boys Noize has been deep in one of the more unexpected pairings of his career: a full collaborative project with Nine Inch Nails. After working together on the Tron: Ares soundtrack and remix album and touring together on the Peel It Back Tour, Ridha and Trent Reznor built out Nine Inch Noize — an industrial techno reimagining of Nine Inch Nails’ catalog, released in April 2026 as Halo 38 in NIN’s numbering system. The project performed together at Coachella 2026 just a week before the album dropped, giving festival crowds a first look at Reznor’s material reworked through Boys Noize’s club-ready lens.

Twenty years into his career, Boys Noize is still doing what he’s always done best: making noisy, genre-blurring electronic music that doesn’t sound like anyone else’s.
