Borgeous — real name John James Borger Jr. — is a Los Angeles producer who went from unknown to inescapable practically overnight thanks to one song: “Tsunami.” His 2013 team-up with Canadian duo DVBBS became one of the defining big-room anthems of that era, hitting #1 on Beatport and iTunes in 15 countries, getting a premiere from Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1, and earning the title of most-played track at Tomorrowland that year according to Billboard. That single kind of thing doesn’t happen for most producers even once — for Borgeous it happened before he’d even fully established himself, and it landed him a deal with Spinnin’ Records that October.

He didn’t just ride the “Tsunami” wave, either. Tracks like “AGGRO,” “Invincible,” and “Wildfire” followed, with “Invincible” and “Wildfire” both cracking the Billboard Dance Radio Top 10 in 2014, giving him three Top 10 entries and three Beatport #1 singles across his catalog. He also picked up remix duty on some serious names, reworking Afrojack’s “Ten Feet Tall” and Ariana Grande’s “One Last Time,” and he cracked DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs list in 2013. For a while he even had his own weekly show, “House of Borgeous,” on SiriusXM, giving fans a direct line into what he was spinning and producing.

Borgeous has stayed a steady presence on the club and festival circuit since then, still playing the kind of big-room sets that made “Tsunami” a festival staple in the first place. Platinum-certified and active since 2012, he’s one of the names that helped define what mainstage EDM sounded like in the genre’s biggest commercial wave, and he’s kept his tour schedule busy well past that initial run.
