Dotcom and The Binches Brought Out Marshmello At EDC 2018
Even though most people know by now that Marshmello is Dotcom, that doesn’t mean that he is still going to have fun with the semi-anonymous identity. During the closing night at EDC Las Vegas 2018 (May 18th through the 20th at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway), The Binches (Dotcom, Kayzo, Ookay, Yultron) were set to perform.
For anyone who needs a refresher: Dotcom is Chris Comstock’s original production alias, the one he was using before he built out the marshmello persona and the mask that comes with it. He kept the two identities pretty separate for a while, but starting around 2017 he began bringing Dotcom back out for collabs and B2Bs, occasionally performing shows without the mask under that name. The Binches came together as a full collaborative group between Dotcom and three of his friends from the bass scene — Kayzo, Ookay, and Yultron — and their EDC 2018 set marked the crew’s live debut together.
During the Electric Daisy Carnival debut, The Binches brought out Marshmello to perform one of his hit singles. While Dotcom was already on the stage, it’s safe to say that the group was having a little bit of fun with the crowd — “bringing out” Marshmello when the guy standing right there in front of everyone already basically was Marshmello. It’s the kind of bit that only really works because the “secret” was already an open one, and the crowd’s reaction made it pretty clear everyone was in on the joke.

That reply from Jack Coles pretty much sums up the entire bit, and fans in the replies were quick to point out the obvious. Marshmello’s own tweet thanking The Binches for “bringing him out” only added fuel to the joke. Bit aside, the fact that Dotcom, Kayzo, Ookay, and Yultron closed out EDC Las Vegas together as a full crew was a genuinely big deal for four artists who’d each spent years grinding in the bass music scene individually. Following the EDC set, the group teased that more Binches shows could be on the way, giving fans hope this wasn’t just a one-off Vegas stunt.
