Over the past 4 years, FNGRS CRSSD has successfully curated one of the nation's most well-rounded and established festivals and is slowly becoming a household name growing popularity with every year.
This October, CRSSD Fest returned to San Diego's idyllic Waterfront Park bringing numerous dance-driven artists to the sunny, Southern California oasis. This year's headline ushered in names such as RÜFÜS DU SOL, Chris Lake and much more. The two-day affair spread over the first weekend of October and hosted thousands of gleaming, music-lovers from all over the world.
CRSSD Fest is undeniably one of the countries leading dance music festivals, we rounded up 5 reasons to prove it.
1. Location, Location, Location
If you don't automatically connect the name, “San Diego” with “perfect weather, beautiful beaches and picturesque paradise” you may want to do some googling. San Diego not only offers some of the most pastoral backdrops in the nation but also offers weather you can't find anywhere else. Nestled next to the shining San Diego Bay, Waterfront Park is an immaculate stretch of pristine green landscape that establishes itself as the most adorned location for a 2-day weekend festival.
2. Grub & Brew
While food and drink are amenities that are often over-looked when ranking festivals, CRSSD Fest hits the nail on the head not only providing easily accessible and countless options of craft beer and gourmet food but also breaking the bounds offering interactive and top of the line events. This year, techno king Richie Hawtin hosted his own ENTR Sake experience which drew in crowds for sweet techno and liquor bliss.
3. Crowd Pleasers
While festivals often are your go-to place for meeting your next best friend, the crowd that draws in for CRSSD takes this to a whole other level. The 21+ age restriction hosts an older more mature crowd, the adult ravers if you will, and with this comes dance circles, new friends and no fighting. Did we also mention the really ridiculously good-looking crowd?
4. Diversity of Lineup
Like old school house music? CRSSD has that. Like dark, ethereal techno? CRSSD has that.Like hip-hop influenced beats? CRSSD has that! With a roster that has everything from Destructo to Prok & Fitch to Dixon, there's no arguing that this festival has something for everyone.
5. Simplicity Rules.
2 days. 3 stages. 1 purpose = to ignite the crowd. CRSSD Fest has always branded itself away from the typical festival. It doesn't try to take you away to another reality, it becomes your reality. There's no over the top firework show or top of the notch stage production, the center surrounds itself around the music and the vibes – just the way it should be.
All in all, it was no surprise that CRSSD October 17 was again predominately perfect. The festival continues to strive towards branding itself as a boutique festival centered around the ideology that music connects us all, and during times like this – it's a beautiful thing to see this kind of positivity.
