It was not to long ago that I read a click bait article about what genres of music are dead. Electro was on that list. It is safe to say that producers such as James Egbert may have a say in that debate. James Egbert is the best thing to come out of Denver since the omelet. Much like the ingredients that Make Up a Denver omelet James has ingredients that make up his style of production. Electro is alive and well in the minds and hearts of producers and James Egbert’s newest release Underdog is a shining example of that.
Underdog starts off right in the build up and launches into a wild ride of high energy in your face electro. This song takes a break from James’ usual complex melodies and replaces them with adrenaline-inducing heart pounding laser like synths and foot thumping kicks. The drop has an old school compressed sound that I absolutely love. Egbert simply never disappoints.
