I'm a sucker for Electro Swing. I don't know if it's the nostalgia invoked from old classic songs or the smooth jazzy electro beats that really do it for me. Most likely, it's the combination of both.
Swingrowers are a hot Electro Swing group from Italy. They just released a new EP called ‘Do Not Cover', ironically named because of the utterly amazing collection of Electro Swing covers featured on the album like Mr. Sandman, Via Con Me, and Pump up the Jam.
Yes…they took one of the most amazing 1989 Technotronic songs and put it in some kind of music time portal. The track takes you back in time with its sultry swing vocals while also launching you into the future with its funky electro rhythms. Swingrowers collaborated with Canadian Gypsy Jazz Group, The Lost Fingers, with this track. I believe this tune is the best on the EP, for it's pure uniqueness. That being said, the whole EP is definitely worth listening to. Be prepared to move your feet and wish you had taken those swing dance lessons.
P.S.- The Pump up the Jam video is definitely worth watching.
