2 Fatalities and 23 Injured After Vehicle Plows Into Crowd at SXSW

Last night at SXSW, 23 people have been reported injured and two have been confirmed dead after a car plowed through a crowd outside a bar near the Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas.

According to Austin Police Chief, the driver was said to be under the influence and attempting to escape police in his silver Toyota. The driver was a lone black male who had weaved through parking lots, went the wrong way and drove at top speeds. Unfortunately all while striking dozens of people, a van and a moped. The 2 that are deceased were said to be on the moped.

The EDM/Rap hybrid group known as SPLITBREED were first on the scene as they encountered this terrible tragedy. They tweeted that “We came to SXSW for music” and “never thought we would witness a massacre first hand.” “We were the first ones on the scene.” They continued to tweet and share their experience below.

Our hearts go out to all of the victims and the victim's families of this tragedy.
