SFX President Tim Crowhurst Talks About Beatport Layoffs

After Mox found out that Beatport had laid off their entire San Francisco back on December 5th, we finally have word from Beatport's President Tim Crowhurst about the situation. Tim Crowhurst told Billboard that “The hard conclusion we had to make on Beatport is that we were spread a bit too thin. We had to make some hard choices, frankly, to restructure the team and get everyone focused on one vision.”

While Tim never released the exact number of people that were let go, TechCrunch estimated it to be roughly 26. Crowhurst then went on to say that “This shift is more about product vision than it is cost savings, we’ve got a pretty exciting roadmap that will leverage some of the best technology out there to essentially create a new future for this industry.”
