Back in November of 2017, Pulselocker began to quietly inform their customers that they'd be shutting down operations. They wrote “due to a combination of market circumstances and financial constraints, we must re-organize our current structure if we are to successfully serve you in the future. After exhaustively searching for alternatives, we have made the extremely hard decision to shut down our operations.”
Instead of closing down shop though, Beatport has announced the news to acquire Pulselocker, the DJ streaming and subscription service.
The acquisition is focused on patented “locker” technology that allows DJs to access an integrated cache of music from the cloud without an internet connection.
As Pulselocker and Beatport will join together, Beatport will be able to create an advanced DJ experience for its customers and expand the company's product beyond digital downloads.
