Big Gigantic

Big Gigantic is the Boulder, Colorado duo of Dominic Lalli on saxophone and production and Jeremy Salken on drums, and from the jump their whole thing has been proving electronic music doesn’t need to come from a laptop alone. Lalli trained at the Manhattan School of Music before turning to production, while Salken cut his teeth touring with bluegrass bands — an unlikely combo that turned into one of the most distinctive live shows in the scene, mixing sax and live drums with heavy bass and hip-hop-informed beats.

The duo built a devoted following the old-fashioned way: relentless touring and a self-run Rowdytown festival at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado, that’s sold out nearly every September since 2012. On record, they broke through commercially with 2016’s Brighter Future, which debuted at No. 2 on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Albums chart, and they’ve kept the momentum going with 2020’s Free Your Mind and 2022’s Brighter Future 2. In 2025 they released Fluorescence, their latest full-length.

Collaboration has always been part of the Big Gigantic formula — they’ve worked with everyone from Waka Flocka Flame and Logic to fellow festival mainstay GRiZ, with whom they formed the supergroup Big Grizmatik. They’ve also teamed up with Gramatik as Gigantic Underground Conspiracy, further proof of how deep their collaborative roots run in the scene. Whether they’re headlining their own amphitheater shows or sitting in on someone else’s track, Lalli and Salken have spent over a decade proving that live instrumentation and heavy bass aren’t mutually exclusive — they’re a pretty unbeatable combination. More than a decade after their first Rowdytown, the pair show no signs of slowing down, still writing, producing, and drumming their way through packed rooms every season.
