Deadmau5 Explains Why He Broke His Promise To Produce Bo Mason’s Album
Back in November of 2017, Deadmau5 told the vocalist Bo Mason that he would produce his entire album if he received one million plays on his song. After flooding Reddit users and his fans, Bo Mason accomplished this major feat, but Deadmau5 was nowhere to be found.
Just recently Deadmau5 explained the situation for everyone curious. Apparently, Bo Mason kept messaging and tweeting and getting his friends to tweet at Deadmau5. Then his friends would constantly retweet every statement mentioning Deadmau5.
Deadmau5 explains that is just became too much and “ultimately just repelled me from the whole idea.”
One fan put it, just because it’s a tweet, doesn’t mean it’s a binding contract.

How This Whole Thing Started
The original pledge went down back in November 2017. Deadmau5 told Bo Mason he’d fly him out to his mau5trap studio and co-produce his entire album, on the condition that Bo hit one million total plays across his catalog on SoundCloud. Bo rallied his fanbase hard to hit that number, and he actually got there. At the time, it looked like Deadmau5 was even clearing space on his production calendar to make good on it, which is exactly why fans were confused nine months later when nothing had happened.
