Gammer – THE DROP (Fransis Derelle Remix)

You are probably familiar with Gammer’s huge song that made waves a while ago, “THE DROP.” Luckily we were just reminded of that hit with Monstercat putting out the second installment of a 2-part remix pack. Already we know “THE DROP” is confirmed as an absolute banger. But these producers are further pushing the mission, bringing new life to that classic dubstep energy we love. Fransis Derelle’s version is what put me on to the new EP, and remains one of my favorites from it. Doing the original justice there are wild build ups, heavy synth and deep sub-bass blending together for a huge sound. Check it out below and be sure to get into some of the other super creative remixes on the full remix pack here.

Remix Packs as a Catalog-Extending Strategy
Splitting a remix pack into multiple installments, as Monstercat did with “THE DROP,” gave a single original track an extended promotional lifecycle well beyond its initial release window, generating fresh content and renewed listener interest months after the song’s original impact had started to fade. That approach let the label spotlight a wider range of remixers across separate release dates rather than burying several reworks inside one crowded compilation, giving each individual remix, including Fransis Derelle’s take, a better chance at standing out on its own.
Fransis Derelle’s Approach to Dubstep Remixing
What set Fransis Derelle’s version apart, according to this writeup, was a commitment to honoring the aggressive, sub-bass-driven energy of the original “THE DROP” rather than reinventing it into an entirely different genre, a common pitfall when remixers try too hard to differentiate their version. Staying true to the source material’s core identity while still adding distinct build-ups and synth work requires a careful balance, and remixes that strike that balance well, as this one reportedly did, tend to earn the kind of lasting fan attention that outlives the initial remix pack release cycle.
Gammer’s Enduring Catalog Appeal
The fact that “THE DROP” was still generating fresh remix content and blog coverage well after its original release speaks to how durable Gammer’s back catalog proved to be within the dubstep and hardcore-adjacent bass scenes. Rather than fading after an initial run of attention, tracks like this one continued to serve as source material for new producers looking to put their own spin on an already-proven crowd favorite, extending Gammer’s influence to artists and audiences who may have first discovered his sound through a remix rather than the original release itself.
