Marshmello Launches New Gaming Focused Web Series
Marshmello is no stranger to hosting his own web series. As Marshmello hosts his cooking show “Cooking With Marshmello,” the DJ and producer has just announced his newest feature to be called “Gaming With Marshmello.”
As Esports is anticipated to be the third biggest sport in the world in just a couple of years, Marshmello is taking full advantage of the ever so popular Twitch streaming platform and its worldwide audience.
Just last week, Marshmello teamed up with Ninja to show off their gaming skills and even managed to win E3’s Fortnite Pro-Am tournament.
That win clearly lit a fire under the whole idea. Fortnite’s Pro-Am put some of the biggest names in music and streaming on the same stage — pros, celebrities, and streamers all paired up together for charity — and Marshmello and Ninja walking away with the win didn’t go unnoticed. It’s not hard to see why “Gaming With Marshmello” got fast-tracked right after; the internet was already talking about the duo’s chemistry, so why not turn it into a full series?
From what’s been shown so far, the show is built around Marshmello’s own “Mello Cave,” where he’ll link up with a rotating cast of guests — streamers, fellow musicians, whoever fits the vibe — for full gaming sessions instead of just quick clips or one-off streams. It’s a pretty natural move for an artist who’s built his whole persona around anonymity and internet culture in the first place; gaming content is basically home turf for that audience, and Marshmello clearly knows it.
It also fits neatly alongside “Cooking With Marshmello,” which already proved fans will watch the masked producer do just about anything on camera as long as the personality is there. Between the cooking show and now a full gaming series, Marshmello’s building out a whole lifestyle-content universe around himself that goes way beyond DJ sets and festival slots — which makes sense for an artist whose entire brand is built on being relatable and always online rather than being a mysterious, untouchable headliner.
