Swedish House Mafia 2018 Tour Has Not Been Confirmed
Another year, another successful April Fool’s Day. Last year, Mixmag lead in its April Fool’s jokes by leading everyone to believe that Daft Punk would be touring in 2018. This year, they convinced everyone that Swedish House Mafia had broken up, just days after their reunion. Other EDM publishers though convinced you that Swedish House Mafia had officially established a 2018 tour.
Sorry guys, you’ve been robbed once again by April Fool’s.
At the time of writing, Swedish House Mafia has not yet confirmed a 2018 tour. While Steve Angello’s manager, Scooter Braun, to allude to the fact that their Ultra 2018 return was “just the beginning,” Steve Angello, Axwell, and Ingrosso have yet to confirm any type of tour or another show set for this year.
For anyone just catching up, the trio’s Ultra Music Festival cameo on March 25th was their first time back on a stage together since their supposed farewell run years earlier, and it set off a wave of speculation about a full reunion tour almost immediately. That’s exactly the kind of buzz that makes an April Fool’s prank about a confirmed tour so believable in the first place, fans were already primed to expect an official announcement any day, which made it easy for a joke headline to spread like it was real news.
It’s also worth remembering just how tightly Swedish House Mafia has always controlled their own announcements. Even during their original run, the trio was known for cryptic teasers and countdown clocks rather than straightforward press releases, so it tracks that they’d let outlets and fans speculate wildly rather than confirm or deny anything themselves this early into a reunion.
