Reddit Is Convinced That Swedish House Mafia Is Playing Ultra 2018
As we head into day 2 of Ultra Music Festival, everyone is speculating who will be returning at Ultra Music Festival 2018 as this year’s special guest. In fact, last night we asked the attendees who they believe will be the special guest: 80% said Swedish House Mafia, and 20% said Daft Punk.
Rumors are flying as we near Day 3 of who will be this year’s special guest, but so far the music industry and the Reddit community tend to be siding with Swedish House Mafia as this year’s guest.
Following Axwell / Ingrosso’s performance at Ultra 2018 Day 1, Redditors noticed that not a single full Swedish House Mafia song was played during their set last night. When they usually play songs like “Antidote,” “Greyhound,” and “Don’t You Worry Child,” Axwell / Ingrosso failed to play any such song.

Building on top of this, many Redditors noticed that the Swedish House Mafia logo just so happened to appear on the screen during last night’s performance as you can see in the video below.

Turns Out The Internet Detectives Were Right
The very next night, the rumors became reality. Swedish House Mafia – Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Steve Angello – walked out onto the Ultra main stage on March 25, 2018 for their first performance together in nearly five years, since their emotional “farewell” show at Ultra in 2013. The crowd reaction was exactly what you’d expect after months of teasing: total chaos, a sea of phones, and years of pent-up hype finally released in one set.
The reunion ended up being way bigger than a one-off. It kicked off a run of festival appearances and, eventually, new music and a full reunion tour under the Swedish House Mafia name again. Looking back, all those little clues fans picked up on – the missing SHM songs in the Axwell / Ingrosso set, the logo flash on the screen, the Reddit sleuthing – turned out to be exactly the breadcrumb trail the group’s camp had laid down on purpose. Sometimes the internet’s tinfoil-hat theories are just correct.
