Seven Lions and Kill the Noise have pooled their collective geniuses and collaborated on a track titled Cold Hearted on Monstercat. The track far beyond exceeded my expectations. I am not going to lie when I first heard the two powerhouses were working together the bar was set pretty high. Knowing the quality of both producers, this song was destined for greatness.
Cold Hearted starts off with shuffling trap snares that give way to a synth-driven slow build. The melodic build snaps off into a downright filthy dubstep drop which shook me to my core the first time I heard it live. Sounds that I have never heard before folded over on themselves combined with the raw power that Kill the Noise bass brings to the table. If the first drop did not solidify this as one of the greatest songs of all time the 2nd, or “Seven Lions” drop, hits with vim and vigor as well. This drop is launched just after a perfectly placed solo snare that really sets the table for that melodic drop with a slight pause just before the explosion. While the KTN drop is impressive in the complex sound design, the Seven Lions drop is a beautiful release of energy. The song then moves on to the final drop which appears to have been a mix of both styles. Kill the Noise will be joining Seven Lions and Tritonal on the Horizon tour.
