Griz Was In the Studio With Big G And Says They Made The ‘Grooviest Sh*t Ever’

We are so happy to see these collaboration tweets flying from Griz on the daily recently. Just the other day the don of the Sax started a conversation with Rezz over Twitter what seemed to be the beginning of a collaboration we had no idea we wanted so badly.

Now just two days later Griz is again teasing us but this time with another Sax legend. of course I am talking about none other than Dom from Big Gigantic. The two were in the studio together today and Griz has already said the result was the ‘grooviest shit ever’. I don’t know about you guys but that is exactly what I want to hear. Did That Studio Session Ever See The Light Of Day?

It’s tough to trace one specific “grooviest sh*t ever” studio day back to a finished song, since GRiZ and Dominic Lalli have been in and out of the studio together for years. What we do know for sure is these two never have trouble finishing what they start: their ‘Good Times Roll’ collab dropped back in September 2016, and years later they teamed up again for ‘C’mon’ and ‘Open Your Mind,’ both released in 2022. So even if this exact jam never got an official title, the GRiZ and Big Gigantic partnership kept delivering long after this tweet.

For anyone who needs the refresher: GRiZ is Grant Kwiecinski, a Southfield, Michigan native who built his whole sound around blending his saxophone chops with funk and electronic production, a style he’s called “future-funk.” Big Gigantic’s Dominic Lalli, also a saxophonist, has been one of his most frequent collaborators for exactly that reason — two horn players who grew up on similar funk influences, both pushing electronic music somewhere warmer and groovier.
