Do you remember the time SoundCloud banned your account for sharing your DJ mixes on it? We do.
Today SoundCloud announced its plans to expand its services and offer a revenue-share for DJs and producers who uploaded mixes and remixes to the music streaming service. SoundCloud will be inviting artists that create remixes, recorded and live sets and other user-generated content.
SoundCloud told Thump that “revenue that's generated through ads and subscription payments by consumers is divided up and paid out based on how content is consumed.”
While SoundCloud hasn't announced the artists invited to this premier option yet, a spokesperson said that the current artists include Chance The Rapper, StarRo, Toni Romiti, Metro Boomin and 21 Savage. While the premier program is currently in invite-only, SoundCloud said that they are increasing the number of people invited daily.
