Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike Debut Unreleased Collab With Diplo
Diplo hasn’t been shy about bashing “EDM” as a scene, going so far as calling it a “sinking ship” — which, fair or not, hasn’t stopped him from cashing in on it. The guy just dropped $2.4 million on a home in the Hollywood Hills. And despite the public shade toward the genre, Diplo is still very much in the studio with some of the biggest names the “sinking ship” has to offer — including Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, arguably the #1 DJ/producer duo working in dance music right now.
With Tomorrowland right around the corner, the Belgian brothers gave fans a first taste of their new collaboration with Diplo, premiering it live during a set at Ejekt Festival in Greece. The track blends both camps’ signatures — Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike’s big room instincts colliding with the swagger Diplo’s brought to his own recent output, and the combination lands about how you’d expect from producers who know exactly how to work a festival crowd.
Ejekt Festival, where the collab got its first airing, is one of Athens’ longer-running multi-genre festivals, mixing electronic acts in with rock and hip-hop bills — not the venue you’d necessarily expect for a big room premiere, but it’s exactly the kind of lower-key setting where artists have historically tested unfinished material before committing to it.
Worth noting: this was a festival ID — unreleased, untitled, and previewed live rather than dropped as a proper single. Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike have put out more than one collaboration with Diplo since 2016, including “Hey Baby,” though festival premieres like this one don’t always survive to official release in their original form, so it’s fair to treat this specific preview as exactly that: a preview, not a confirmed title or release date.
