W&W, Hardwell & Lil Jon Finally Release ‘Live The Night’

W&W, Hardwell, and Lil Jon have finally put out their latest collaboration today. ‘Live The Night’ is the result of this massive team-up, and is out now on Mainstage Music, the record label of Dutch duo W&W. You’ll recognize this one in the first few seconds as the track has been played in countless live sets. ‘Live The Night’ has been buzzing for two years now, ever since W&W and Hardwell played the track at Ultra Music Fest in 2014 for the first time. More recently, W&W played the track during EDC Las Vegas last month. After ‘Jumper’ and ‘Don’t Stop The Madness’, ‘Live The Night’ is the first team-up of the three Dutchmen to be released on Mainstage Music.
For anyone keeping score, this track has had a longer road than most ID’s ever get. W&W first tested out an early version of it — under the working title “Let’s Rage” — at the Ministry of Sound Festival back in 2013. Hardwell brought his own rendition to Ultra the following year, and by 2015 a completely different vocal take, titled “We Got This” and featuring British singer Harrison Shaw, was floating around before ultimately getting scrapped. It took three years and multiple false starts before the trio landed on the Lil Jon-featuring version that finally saw an official release, which says a lot about how particular all three of them were about getting the instrumental right before attaching a vocal to it.

Two versions of the track are available: a radio-friendly cut that clocks in a little over two minutes, plus a full Extended Mix for anyone who wants the whole build-up-and-drop experience in the DJ booth. Given how long this one sat in the vault before release, it’s no surprise that it’s already turned into a festival staple — expect to keep hearing it in W&W and Hardwell sets for a long while yet, along with the inevitable wave of remixes and bootlegs that tend to follow a track with this much history behind it.
