Uber Is Working With Helicopter Startup To Fly People To Coachella

Blade, the on-demand helicopter transportation startup sometimes referred to as “the Uber for Helicopters,” is offering a special service for fans heading to Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival this April.

For $695 a seat, Blade will be shuttling people from Van Nuys Airport to Palm Springs. If you want to rent out the entire helicopter though, that'll cost you $4,170 to book the entire six-seat helicopter.

The journey is roughly 130 miles, but for those that have attended Coachella before, you know how much traffic is involved when 198,000 people trek to the desert.

Once you touch down in Palm Springs, Blade will then shuttle Uber to provide transportation to and from the Blade lounges at Van Nuys Airport and in Palm Springs, California.

“We believe that the West Coast is underserved by short-distance aviation — especially helicopter travel,” CEO Rob Wiesenthal said.
