Mix Monitor | Q-dance presents Hardstyle Top 40 – July 2014

Mix Monitor is a continuous series which covers and sifts notable mixes, sets, and podcasts for highlights that you should note.

Q-Dance-Presents-Hardstyle-Top-40-May-2014

This month's Q-dance presents Hardstyle Top 40 podcast is loaded with many vocal, euphoric/uplifting, and anthem tracks. There are a few raw tracks, but nothing particularly new.

As with previous episodes, the Hardstyle Top 40 obviously gathers the top hardstyle tracks of the month, so repeats are common; unfortunately, many of the good tracks this month have been out for some time, but maybe you still haven't heard of some.

Check out this month's Mix Monitor for July's Hardstyle Top 40 and selected highlights.

HIGHLIGHTS

Dimitri Vegas, Moguai & Like Mike – Mammoth (Coone Remix) — Solid rendition of the EDM anthem. It stays true to the original melody, but, of course, with a more aggressive tempo that's typical with any hardstyle remix — something even non-hardstylers should give a listen to.

Audiotricz ft. Miss Palmer – Never Leaving I think there needs to be more female vocalists in hardstyle. Tracks like “Never Leaving” and the Prophet x Noisecontroller's “Let Me Stay” have so much power because of the vocal presence, which females tend to deliver better.

Bass Modulators – Let Me See You  Bass Modulators are becoming the hardstyle ambassadors to popular EDM and still manage to stay true to what makes the genre great. This song is an example of that; an overall fun song, with sounds that would appeal to mainstage attendees.

Activator – Cobra  Not new, but worth noting. Activator is a flat-out top-tier producer; one of the few producers who has a distinct style, mainly with his resonating kicks that are a work of art. This track also features an old sample that kids who watched Home Alone would know. The feels.

Outbreak – We Want Your Soul (WWYS) — Raw track with a lot of energy in the final climax provided by a relentless, whirring Synth.

LOWLIGHTS

Da Tweekaz ft. Popr3b3l – Your Love — This is probably the worst track I've listened to in some time, hardstyle or not; Creed-like vocals, cheesy lead melody, cringe-worthy drum samples, and overly-pitched kicks. Just skip this and appreciate their other track “#Tweekay14”, which actually sits at #1. That's their redeemer.

Dillytek – Feeling — Just a forgettable track altogether. The leading melody uninspiring and the vocal sample is, well, boring.

2. Coone – Survival Of The Fittest (Defqon.1 Anthem 2014).
