Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso Are Finishing Up Their First Album
On May 21st, we reported that Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso were returning to the studio with the caption “New Music on the horizon.” Now just 8 days later, we find out from a tweet by Axwell that him and Sebastian Ingrosso (2/3 of Swedish House Mafia) are finishing their first album together as a duo!

It took a while, but that album Axwell teased back in May 2014 eventually became real. Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso spent the next few years building out their new project under the name Axwell Λ Ingrosso, dropping a steady run of singles — including the massive global hit “Something New” — before finally delivering their debut studio album, More Than You Know, in 2017. The record leaned into a bigger, more radio-friendly pop-dance sound than either had chased with Swedish House Mafia, and its title track became one of the defining pop-dance crossover hits of that era, racking up huge streaming numbers and radio play well outside the usual dance music bubble.
The Axwell Λ Ingrosso chapter didn’t last forever, though. In 2018, the duo announced they were putting the project on hiatus so both members could refocus on Swedish House Mafia, which was gearing up for a full reunion after years apart. That reunion eventually led to new music and a run of huge shows together with Steve Angello, the same friend and former groupmate cheering them on in the tweets above, bringing the trio back together as a full unit rather than the two-thirds lineup teased in this post. Swedish House Mafia would go on to release their long-awaited album Paradise Again in 2022, closing the loop on a story that, in hindsight, really started picking up steam right around this tweet.
Looking back at this post now, it’s a fun snapshot of a pivotal moment for two-thirds of Swedish House Mafia — the exact tweet where a whole new era of Axwell and Ingrosso’s career quietly kicked off, years before most fans had any idea it would eventually lead back to a full SHM reunion.
