It seems like everyone is trying to create some sort of weekly, bi- weekly, or monthly party these days. Today MATTE Projects bring you “Painted Black“, a party that I feel is going to knock everyones sock off!
Beyond a typical concert, Painted BLACK is an exploration of a color and a lifestyle through a live experience. In the pursuit of this, the musical acts will be paired with visual artists, stage builders, sculptors, fashion designers, and filmmakers, creating unique pieces to be debuted at the series. Painted BLACK Act 1 will take place on February 13th at Irving Plaza and will feature music from electronic music producers Klangkarussel, Thomas Azier, and Stefan Biniak and a DJ set from Little Dragon.
They are also collaborating with Aerosyn Lex to build out the visual language and aesthetic surrounding each act. Aerosyn-Lex Mestrovic is an award-winning designer, calligrapher and creative director of the New York and London based label Earnest Endeavours. He has collaborated extensively with Kanye West and Kenzo. They are also working with Nathaniel Brown to create the stage design and graphics for each act. Nathaniel is known for his creative collaborations with Kanye West, Drake, Jay-Z and his work on Beyoncé's recent world tour.
