Just as he promised, Marshmello’s debut OWSLA single “Ritual” feat. Wrabel is here. And to properly introduce this track to the world, he dropped the official music video along with it. He teased this track a while ago and started working it into his set at a few different festivals, but it’s finally here in all of its glory.
“Ritual” opens up with Wrabel’s big ballad-like vocals and a lighthearted, soft intro. As the build up begins, Wrabel explores his higher register and once the drop hits, we get the choppy, heavy-handed sound we’ve come to recognize (and love) Mello for. You can pretty much consider this a formula for the rest of the track, as we hear this sequence a few more times through. He did call out on that “Ritual” was “his favorite song he’s ever made” on Twitter, and we can probably assume that it’s going to be a favorite of all his fans too.
The same goes for the video. The 4-minute feature profiles what one could argue is potentially a “day in the life” for the producer; partying at the beach, running around the city, hanging with his fellow OWSLA friends, Skrillex, Slushii and even a fake deadmau5, etc.
All in all, the song really is well done. The vocals are great, it's interestingly different from his other stuff and most likely on repeat for all the mellogang members (including me) out there. Check out the video below.
