Secret Sky Music Festival Lineup Officially Released

Yesterday, Porter Robinson announced that this weekend, Secret Sky Music Festival would take place. Presented by Brownies & Lemonade and Goldenvoice, the online event is expected to be incredible. Today, the official lineup has been released and it is seriously spectacular.
Set to take place on May 9th, the Secret Sky Music Festival lineup consists of talented popular artists such as Porter Robinson himself, Madeon, G Jones, Jai Wolf, and San Holo. In addition, it includes special artists such as Anamanaguchi, Shadient, Wavedash, Lil Texas, Hakushi Hasegawa, and more. Certainly, this has to be one of the best live stream lineups of 2020.
If you are interested in watching the live stream, make sure to RSVP! A direct link of the stream will be emailed to you on the day of the event.
Secret Sky is essentially the virtual reimagining of Porter Robinson’s own Second Sky festival, which had to pivot to an all-online format once the COVID-19 pandemic made large in-person gatherings impossible. Rather than scrap the event, Robinson and his team built out a custom digital venue with the studio Active Theory, letting fans move around a 3D concert space and watch the whole thing unfold right in their browser, no app download required. The stream ran across YouTube, Twitch and even PlayStation’s Littlstar app, with more than fourteen hours of programming kicking off at 11am PDT on the 9th.
The lineup itself doubles as a pretty good snapshot of Porter Robinson’s own taste. Madeon, his longtime friend and collaborator on the beloved 2016 single and short film “Shelter,” was an obvious inclusion, and rising melodic and bass music names like G Jones, Jai Wolf and San Holo rounded out a bill that leaned emotional and left-field rather than pure festival-banger energy. Chiptune legends Anamanaguchi and left-field acts like Wavedash and Hakushi Hasegawa gave the whole thing a distinctly internet-native, genre-blending feel that fits right in with how Robinson has always talked about his own influences.
With touring completely on pause that spring, Secret Sky became one of the earliest examples of an artist actually pulling off a proper, technically ambitious virtual festival rather than just streaming a solo set from a bedroom. The event’s Postmates delivery partnership also directed proceeds to the MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund, helping out the army of touring and production crew who’d suddenly found themselves with zero work overnight.
