Mark Knight Ibiza mini-interview

The Ibiza season has wrapped up once again and for you this for sure isn't your 1st season in Ibiza. What are some of the tracks from the White Isle this year that really stood out in your mind?

There's a guy called Wheats who has been putting out records with Toolroom who is such an incredible talent. He’d produced several of my favorite tracks of the year with ‘Red Shadow’ and more recently ‘Kassia'. Seriously think this guy is going to be huge and I rarely play a set without dropping one or two of his. Camelphat's ‘The Solution' is also a huge record and Tiger Stripes' Jack My Yum has been going down a storm all season.

What are some things on Ibiza you like to do when you aren't DJ'ing? How is the food out there?

To be honest, I'm rarely there long enough to really do much else other than DJ. The food is amazing though, and there are some incredible places to eat. especially a little off the beaten track.

Mark Knight talks his favorite Closing Party Tracks

Wheats –  Kassia

Wheats is such an incredible talent. He’d already producer one of my favourite tracks of the year with ‘Red Shadow’, and has now dropped another absolutely brilliant record. Seriously think this guy is going to be huge.

Illyus & Barrientos – MEA

These guys are so consistently brilliant it’s scary. These guys have taken a well-used vocal sample and managed to keep it fresh and interesting. Just pure quality rolling tech house.

Mark Knight – Selecao

When I’m making music I take inspiration from so many things, usually when I’m least expecting it. In this instance that happened to be the Brazilian football team, hence then name!  It’s hard to sit down and think “right, I need to be inspired!”. Which was the case with this record for sure – it just kinda all fell into place.

Weiss – Feel My Needs (Purple Disco Machine Remix)

On paper you just know this is going to be great, and it doesn’t disappoint. I’ve been hammering this all summer long, just got such a wicked disco, sunny vibe. Great record for the early part of the night, or even dropped in the middle of a banging set to catch people unawares. Absolutely love it.

Andrea Oliva – Terrace

Tough, driving and hypnotic. As someone who make their name in Ibiza, Andrea really knows what works there – and this sends the dancefloor completely crazy when it drops.

Camelphat – The Solution

These guys are unstoppable – just seems like everything they do these days is pure gold. This is properly dark and trippy and dropped at the right time has been going down a treat.

Tiger Stripes – Jack My Yum

Another ridiculously consistent producer who always manages to knock it out of the park. This has been a huge record for me over the summer: that bassy hook is just so strong: people recognise it straight away, and it always gets an amazing reception.

Nic Fanciulli Feat. Agoria & Jaw – Wrong (Solardo Extended Mix)

Again, with this amount of talent packed into one track, you’ve got to expect something special and it definitely doesn’t disappoint. The original mix is incredible as well, but Solardo’s remix just edged it for me. Bassline is just so big and sounds incredible on a decent system. Huge.

Skream – Poison (Alan Fitzpatrick Remix)

Pure fire from Skream and Alan Fitzpatrick : a proper, balls-out thumping techno cut that doesn’t mess about. And that breakdown is just inspired. People completely loose their minds whenever I drop it.
