Varien is a legend in the electronic dance world and he is without a doubt one of the most creative producers in the game today. Swarm has burst on the scene displaying exponential greatness with every new terrifyingly dark release. The two artists have collaborated to release Never Ending. Varien is firing on all cylinders after recently taking more of an independent approach to his music. Swarm has been an absolute favorite of mine recently, his mastery of all things dark combined with next level sound design has drawn me in and catapulted Swarm to the top of my bucket list. As for this collaboration, I truly hope this is not a one and done with these two artists; you will soon see how perfect they complement each other.
Never Ending begins with ominous synths and falling rain which creates a cinematic feel to the intro. Monotone female vocals bring in an artificial intelligence element whose lyrics are provided in that deadpan matter which really amps up the uneasiness vibe. The drop hits with a crunchy bassline that recalls the days when Savoy was melting faces with endless lasers and bangers. Thunderous drum kicks roll through closing out the drop behind chilling violin strings. The break has a great bass guitar line that carries you to the bridge of the song. Machine gun style drum kicks hammer away sandwiching the final drop in pure fire. Never Ending is a song that feels like a street fight, in that jabs seem to catch you when you are not looking, and they come with force leaving you drained and possibly a little sore.
