Hackers Delete ‘Despacito’ and Other Top Videos From YouTube

Earlier this morning, a group of hackers broke into some of VEVO's top music videos and defaced the clip's cover image with a picture of masked people pointing guns, resulting in the most-viewed music videos being taken down temporarily.

Just days after reaching 5 billion views, “Despacito” was seen on YouTube saying “this video was removed by its user.”

According to BBC News, the hackers ‘Prosox and Kuroi'sh' had also broken into clips by Drake, Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, and Shakira.

“Vevo can confirm that a number of videos in its catalogue were subject to a security breach today, which has now been contained,” VEVO said in their statement. “We are working to reinstate all videos affected and our catalogue to be restored to full working order. We are continuing to investigate the source of the breach.”
