Coachella Will Utilize Aerial Drones To Combat Mass Shooting Risks In 2018

There is no doubt that when Stephen Paddock opened fire on the Route 91 music festival in Las Vegas last October, festivals were changed forever. His hail of gunfire left 58 people murdered in America's worst mass shooting. Now police and festival organizers alike are working tirelessly to help prevent similar tragedies taking place at events in 2018.

Ultra Music Festival which was surrounded by highrise vantage points did a truly amazing Job working with local police to secure the area from all potential threats. This includes placing counter snipers, utilizing police helicopters and even in one instance place a potential suspect into custody a mere few hours after a threat was made. Now that Ultra has concluded the world is setting its eyes on Indio Valley where Coachella will take place over two weekends, in just under two weeks time.

Beefed Up Security

Coachella will be beefing up security in a big way for both of its weekends. TMZ and in turn Complex reported that EMS has stocked up on tourniquets to help aid potential victims of an attack. They have also reported that police will be using aerial drones to keep a bird's eye view on the crowd activity below.

While this is the unfortunate reality of 2018, it is important to remember that law enforcement and festival organizers are working nonstop to thwart potential attacks, and in reality the chance of any attacks taking place is minimal. That being said. Be smart – plan an exit route, and have a plan of action.
