Bassnectar Announces the Return of Colorado “Freestyle Sessions”
Bassheads rejoice because Bassnectar just announced the return of his “Freestyle Sessions” to Colorado for the second year. The event is to be held at one of Denver’s larger venues, 1st Bank Center from June 1-3.

This event was designed to break the boundaries of your typical electronic music show with creative genre mashing, rare versions, and the blending of old school and new school. The production will be minimal to allow fans to focus on the music.
Like last year, the event will consist of three individually-themed nights — Freestyle, Downtempo and Wildstyle. Each night will feature a full-power Bassnectar alongside a specially curated lineup of supporting artists including Mala (Digital Mystikz), Russ Liquid (dj set), The Widdler, Nightmares on Wax, CharlesTheFirst, Dorfex Bos, Pendulum (dj set), The Librarian and Gladkill.

Freestyle Sessions has always been a bit of a different animal compared to a standard Bassnectar tour stop. Rather than the massive production rigs and screen-heavy visuals fans are used to seeing at his arena shows, this run leans into an intimate, sound-system-focused vibe where the music and the crowd take center stage over spectacle. It’s the kind of show built for diehards who want to hear deep cuts, unreleased versions, and genre-bending selections they won’t catch anywhere else on the calendar.
The three-night format gives fans a chance to experience very different sides of Bassnectar’s catalog and taste. Freestyle night leans into the eclectic, genre-mashing sound he’s known for building his career on. Downtempo strips things back for a more chilled, bass-heavy headspace. And Wildstyle turns the dial back up for a high-energy closer to send the weekend off right.
The supporting lineup is stacked with names that speak to just how wide Bassnectar’s musical influences run. Mala, one of the founding architects of dubstep as part of Digital Mystikz, brings serious genre pedigree, while Pendulum’s DJ set nods to the drum and bass side of the family tree. Add in genre-blenders like Russ Liquid, CharlesTheFirst, and Dorfex Bos, plus scene veterans The Widdler and Nightmares on Wax, and the bill reads like a tour through everything that’s shaped Bassnectar’s sound over the years.
1stBank Center in Broomfield, just outside Denver, has hosted the event before and offers the kind of mid-size room that suits the Freestyle Sessions format well — big enough for a proper production, intimate enough to keep that community feel intact. With Colorado being something of a second home base for Bassnectar and his fanbase, it’s no surprise the Freestyle Sessions keep coming back to the Centennial State.
