New Music Friday: 3LAU, Illenium, Tchami, Maor Levi
It’s Friday and that means that is officially New Music Friday and break for many of you. As we make our way into the weekend here and the holidays, it’s now time to share all of this week’s newest music releases with the official New EDM This Week playlist.
As we scoured the web this past week for new songs, we discovered roughly 94 new EDM songs and a handful of albums.
This week’s roundup has a little something for everybody, headlined by four names who’ve each carved out their own corner of the genre. 3LAU (real name Justin Blau) has spent his career blending EDM with a classical, orchestral sensibility, and he’s never shied away from a good remix. Tchami, the Parisian producer who helped invent future house and runs it out of his own Confession imprint, keeps that low-slung, gospel-inflected house sound instantly recognizable no matter whose track he’s touching. Illenium, aka Nicholas Miller, built his name on the kind of emotional, melodic dubstep and future bass that made his 2016 debut album “Awake” a fan favorite, which is exactly why a stripped-down piano version of that record is such a treat for anyone who’s been following him since. And Maor Levi, the Israeli producer known for his emotionally-charged progressive and trance-leaning sound, rounds things out with a solo original.
For the releases taking place this week, Super Future released “Prisms,” 3LAU remixed Alesso’s “Is That For Me,” Maor Levi released “Aurora,” Electric Mantis and Mothica released “Lying & Loving,” MK released his remix of MK’s “World To Me,” Illenium dropped the piano covers of ‘Awake,” and David Guetta and Afrojack released the remixes to “Drity Sexy Money.”
It’s a heavy week to close out the year on, and with the holidays right around the corner, this playlist update is basically the last big batch of new music before everyone’s attention shifts to New Year’s Eve sets and 2018 predictions.
