Back in August of 2016, Instagram Stories opened up to the public. Since its launch, Instagram Stories has grown to over 250 million users while also contributing to Instagram's overall audience of 700 million users.
Despite essentially copying Snapchat's Stories, today's top social media influencers are using Snapchat 33% less and posting to Instagram Stories twice as often.

While it's unsure what will happen to Snapchat in the future, it has been said that the sale of Snapchat's Spectacles sold fewer than 42,000 Spectacles in Q2 of this year. This is 35% lower than the previous quarter.
