Madison Mars – Atom

DJ-producer, Madison Mars, has recently released his newest single “Atom” on Spinnin’ Records. This new masterpiece may seem extremely familiar to you and that’s because everyone’s favorite DJ, Martin Garrix, has been playing it in most of his festival sets. This track seems to be catching tremendous amounts of attention from not only EDM fans, but DJs as well. The track also made an impression on house music star, Hardwell. He quoted this track as “the best track I’ve heard in 2017 so far.” Receiving monetary praise for its unique sound, it’s no doubt that this track will be playing at your local nightclub or music festival soon.
Fans who caught Garrix’s Ultra Europe and Tomorrowland sets before “Atom” ever had an official title had already been Shazam-ing this one for months, trying to figure out what the unreleased ID actually was. That’s usually a good sign a track is going to blow up once it finally gets a name and a release date, and “Atom” did not disappoint. Spinnin’ Records put it out as a free download, which only made it spread faster once people could actually grab the file instead of just hunting down a rip of a festival set.
Production-wise, “Atom” leans into a dirtier, club-ready sound than a lot of what’s been dominating the big room space lately. Madison Mars builds the track around a heavier, more aggressive low end and oversized synth stabs, landing somewhere between house and progressive with enough grit to work in a proper club setting rather than just a festival main stage. It’s a noticeably different lane than a lot of his earlier work, and that shift in sound is a big part of why it caught so much attention from artists outside his usual circle.
That crossover appeal tracks with how Madison Mars built his following in the first place. Before “Atom,” he spent time as a mystery artist on Spotify, quietly racking up plays under an unrevealed identity with his debut single “Milky Way,” which pulled in roughly 17 million streams before anyone officially knew who was behind it. He finally revealed himself at Amsterdam Dance Event alongside Don Diablo, and “Atom” has been one of the bigger signals since then that the reveal was worth the hype. With Hardwell’s co-sign and Garrix’s festival support already in hand, don’t be surprised if “Atom” is still getting spun well past 2017.
