Something Wicked: The Asylum Announces 2017 Lineup

Something Wicked Announces 2017 Lineup featuring Above & Beyond, RL Grime, Tiesto, Marshmello, and more:

Something Wicked is back and is taking us to The Asylum this year with an impressive lineup featuring headliners Above & Beyond, Marshmello, and Tiesto. The headliners alone, along with this year’s new theme, will be sure to attract electronic music lovers from all over Texas.

Of course, the lineup doesn’t stop there, with Something Wicked bringing in more insane acts such as RL Grime, Zeds Dead, Rezz, CID, Claude VonStroke, NGHTMRE, and more.

Taking over the Sam Houston Race Park in Houston, Texas on October 28 and 29, this year’s edition of Something Wicked will have all ravers dancing the night away. Something Wicked: The Asylum is sure to leave their mark on attendees as the greatest Halloween event in Texas.

Something Wicked has been building toward this moment for a while now. Houston promoters NightCulture and Disco Donnie Presents launched the festival back in 2013 as a one-day Halloween party, and it grew into a two-day event as early as 2014 once it became clear how much of an appetite Texas had for a proper costumed dance music weekend. Sam Houston Race Park has been home base ever since, giving the festival room for the elaborate stage production and immersive theming it’s become known for.

This year’s headliners bring a pretty stacked resume with them. Above & Beyond have been one of trance music’s most respected acts for close to two decades through their Anjunabeats label and their Group Therapy radio show. Tiesto needs almost no introduction at this point — he was voted the world’s number one DJ by DJ Mag readers three years running back in the early 2000s, and in 2013 those same readers named him the best DJ of the last 20 years. Marshmello, meanwhile, was still a relatively new face on festival lineups in 2017, having spent the previous year turning his masked, no-frills persona into one of the fastest-rising acts in dance music.

The support lineup is just as loaded. RL Grime has spent years building out his Nightfall series into one of trap music’s most respected franchises, Rezz has carved out her own lane with hypnotic, bass-heavy production, and Claude VonStroke’s Dirtybird label has been a cornerstone of the house and tech house scene for over a decade.
