Interview

What got you into making music, specifically Electronic Dance Music?

When I was 15 I started DJing just as a hobby. I wasn’t trying to make a career out of it, but my friends all loved the mixtapes I made for them and my girlfriend signed me up to a DJ contest. She only told me a couple of hours before the contest and I didn’t want to go, but in the end I did… and I won! That’s how I got started.

Then I started producing music as a teenager as well. I fell in love with synths and all the weird and wonderful noises you could make with them. I knew I wanted to start making my own music to play in my DJ sets and I worked hard to come up with my own unique style.

Who are some of your biggest musical influences outside of the EDM genre?

I listen to all kinds of music, especially when I am travelling around. I love hip hop, pop, everything! I know that’s such a standard answer to this kind of question, but I have always loved all kinds of music and as a producer you always bring these influences into your own work.

How would you describe your sound to someone whose never heard you before?

You know, I’m not actually sure. It can be hard to try and describe something like this when you are so close to it. I just know that I spend a lot of studio time trying to make my music sound like Tujamo, and not like someone else. In music that can be one of the hardest aspects, but it’s something that you really need to try to do as a producer.

Thanks for the mix! What goes into making a mix like this, and what are some songs in this mix that stand out to you?

Just like making a track, I always want to put time and effort into making a DJ mix sound like Tujamo! The mix attached is a collection of my favorite songs and my latest single of course.

What are some things you like to do in spare time when not making music?

I’m a workaholic so I don’t get much spare time. But I love to eat sushi!

We are just about to drop the remixes of my song One On One which has some incredible talent on it. Other than that, it’s Tujamo business as usual… festivals, parties, and plenty of studio time when I can squeeze it in! Hope to see you guys at a show soon.

Favorite home-cooked meal?

Nürnberger Rostbratwürsten, Sauerkraut and Kartoffelbrei!

Favorite Junk Food?

I mean, it’s healthy… but SUSHI!
