Before Mad Decent Block Party became the traveling festival extravaganza that it is today – it used to be a legitimate block party. Held off of Spring Garden Street in Philadelphia the first Mad Decent Block Party was designed for more or less a few hundred people. Due to relaxed laws on block parties in Philadelphia at the time, the event required almost no permitting. The result? Thousands showed up and started a movement.
The Block Party was free for many years before ramping up in production and requiring ticket costs to cover the event. It has now grown into a national sensation. Take a look back with Diplo at the first block party that was held on 2007.
