You Can Now Watch Porter Robinson’s EDC Vegas Live Set
Yesterday, Porter Robinson performed a truly transformed Worlds live set at EDC Las Vegas. Unsurprisingly, the live set had fans mesmerized by all of its entirety and its beauty. For those of you who didn’t get the chance to attend the festival or watch the performance, you’re in luck! Miraculously, a fan managed to record the whole thing with his cell phone and kindly shared the video on Youtube for all to see. During his performance, Porter incorporated several re-edited tracks and a few of his known unreleased songs. Porter’s live performances have never failed to leave us in amazement; it is no surprise that this performance did just the same.
Porter’s set went down on EDC’s cosmicMEADOWS stage, and by most accounts it was one of the highlights of the entire weekend. It’s worth pointing out just how far the production has come since the original Worlds Live Tour rolled through back in 2014, what started as a stripped-down, sample-triggered live show has grown into a full-on visual and audio spectacle, complete with reworked arrangements of album favorites and, from what fans could piece together, a couple of unreleased tracks slipped in for good measure. Longtime fans in the crowd were already speculating in real time about which new IDs might end up on a future project.
That’s part of what makes Porter such an interesting act to follow live. He treats his sets less like a standard festival DJ slot and more like an evolving piece of art, constantly re-editing and reimagining songs from Worlds rather than just running through the album beat for beat. Combine that with the scale of an EDC main-stage-adjacent slot, complete with the pyrotechnics and visual production Insomniac is known for, and you get a set that genuinely feels different from anything else on the lineup that weekend.
Huge credit also has to go to whoever in the crowd managed to hold their phone steady enough to capture the full performance. Cell phone footage from festivals is usually a shaky, half-audible mess, but this one somehow does the set justice, giving everyone who missed it in person a real sense of what the crowd experienced live.
