Slander Reveals Two Collaborations With Kayzo Are On The Way

Kayzo is without a doubt one of the hottest names in EDM at the moment. The rising star has been getting attention from everybody who is anybody in EDM. On our Twitter poll readers voted him as the most exciting artist in 2017. He even beat out Odesza, who easily sold out back to back nights at Red Rocks. Kayzo is killing it. Today Slander released some exciting News involving the artist.
One Is A Heater, One Is An Anthem
Slander tweeted out just minutes ago that they have finished two tracks with Kayzo. In the tweet they explain that one song an intense banger while the other is melodic and heartfelt. Well at least that is what I gathered from their creative use of emojis. We seriously cannot wait for these collabs and if we had to guess those attending EDC this weekend will no doubt hear both.

The Tracks Turned Out To Be “Holy” And “Without You”
These two teased collaborations eventually became “Holy” and “Without You,” both of which dropped as part of a broader Slander and Kayzo collaborative EP that fall. “Holy” delivered exactly the intense, heavier-hitting energy the tweet promised, while “Without You” leaned into the more melodic, emotionally driven side of both artists’ catalogs, giving fans both flavors of the pairing that had been hinted at.
This collaboration made a lot of sense given where both acts were in their careers at that point. Slander had already built a reputation for pairing hard-hitting bass drops with genuinely emotional vocal writing, and Kayzo’s rapid rise that year was built on a similarly versatile sound that could swing between heavier trap-metal fusion and more melodic bass music. Pairing up gave both artists a chance to lean into each other’s strengths, and the resulting EP became a genuine highlight of that era’s collaborative bass music scene, right as both acts were becoming go-to names on festival lineups across the country.
A Pairing That Made Both Careers Bigger
Looking back, this EP era was a pretty pivotal stretch for both artists. Kayzo went on to keep leaning into that genre-blending identity, eventually building out an entire sound built around fusing trap, dubstep, and metalcore influences that became his signature. Slander, meanwhile, continued building a catalog of emotionally driven bass anthems that helped define what a lot of fans now think of as the “melodic bass” wave within dubstep. Both acts have stayed close collaborators and friends in the scene since, regularly popping up on each other’s tour lineups and festival sets. It’s the kind of organic partnership that ages really well, since neither artist needed the other to succeed, they just genuinely made better music together than apart.
