New Music Friday: Best New Music Releases This Week (May 19th)
New Music Friday: Every Friday, artists will drop surprise singles, hyped collaborations and highly anticipated new singles. As part of New Music Friday, EDM Sauce’s team along with help of r/edm, we have found the week’s best EDM tracks. We have compiled all of the best new music releases into 2 playlists – the Spotify playlist has over 80 songs and has it all, the Soundcloud playlist is full of tracks and artists you may not have heard of, but need to discover.
Friday hasn’t always been release day, by the way. It only became the worldwide standard back in July 2015, when the global music industry agreed to sync up and drop new albums and singles on the same day every week, everywhere, instead of the old patchwork where release dates varied country by country. That’s basically why “New Music Friday” is a phrase at all now, and why we’ve built a weekly habit around scouring everything that lands.
This week we had releases by the likes of Alan Walker, Blasterjaxx, Tom Swoon, 3LAU, Mura Masa, Pegboard Nerds, Robin Schulz & many more. We also got a brand new Feed Me EP, Sandro Silva Album, & a crazy remix pack of DJ Licious’s ‘I Hear You Calling’.
That’s a genuinely stacked lineup of names spanning a handful of different lanes within dance music, from Alan Walker and Robin Schulz’s more melodic, radio-leaning sound to Pegboard Nerds and Feed Me leaning harder into bass. Weeks like this are exactly why we started running these roundups in the first place: no single fan has time to individually check every artist’s SoundCloud and Spotify every Friday, so we do the digging and hand you two curated playlists instead.
The Spotify playlist is the bigger of the two, clocking in at over 80 tracks at this point and constantly growing, making it a solid one to just save and let run in the background. The SoundCloud playlist skews more toward the up-and-coming side of things, tracks and artists you genuinely might not have stumbled onto yet but should.
Check out both the playlists below, and check back every Friday for more new music!
Editor’s note: this post also originally embedded a companion SoundCloud playlist via a widget link that our platform no longer renders, and we couldn’t independently verify a live canonical URL for that specific 2017 playlist to restore it. You can browse EDM Sauce’s current SoundCloud playlists directly at soundcloud.com/edmsaucenetwork/sets.
