Anyone who's been living in NYC this year knows how eclectic the weather can get. If you're sick of winter already and need some warm, summery vibes, look no further. The tropical house producer and DJ Tom Stræte Lagergren, better know as Matoma, has just embarked on his “Party At Your Place” tour, and Terminal 5 is one of his first stops.
The Norwegian artist has been a smash hit from the beginning. He gained widespread attention by crafting lighthearted reworks of iconic hip-hop and indie tracks from the past two decades, including John Mayer's live version of “Free Fallin'“, and Notorious B.I.G's “Old Thing Back“, the latter garnering 20+ million listens on Soundcloud. His first full length album titled “Hakuna Matoma” (Big Beat/FFRR) features his best beach-worthy tracks of the past few years, including the infectious single “False Alarm” with The Voice UK's Becky Hill:
Matoma's music is drenched in positivity, and his personality is no different. In an interview with Novella Magazine, he says his concerts are “just about having fun! I think a lot of EDM acts these days, they try to be too serious, and have that untouchable image… I'm just a regular guy, making music, playing music, and having fun!”
Without a doubt, tons of fun will go down this Saturday at Terminal 5. If you like Kygo or Thomas Jack, you will no doubt have a blast with Matoma. If your a fan of The Aston Shuffle or Two Friends, get there early for their opening acts! Tickets are still available, and stay tuned at EDM Sauce for a special interview with Matoma after the show!
